Little Wellness: 5 Mantra’s To Get Through The Day.

We must all remind ourselves of who we are. Mantras are a great way to give us that extra boost during the day. Here are a few of my favorites.

1. Today was a bad day; tomorrow will be better.

I picked this up from the reboot version of Charmed (RIP). Say what you want about the show, but they managed to touch upon many modern issues that impact today’s audience — but I digress. Sometimes the weight of the day can become too much, and the idea of trying to get back up again can sometimes bring me down. I need to remind myself that getting through the day is enough and that I can find hope tomorrow.

2. I am intelligent, I am beautiful, I am powerful.

Losing myself happens when I get wrapped up in the chaos of my own life. A lack of self-care mixed with chronic mental health issues makes for a nasty cocktail of making things up in my head. But, most of the time, it is about how I feel about myself. I combat that by telling myself three qualities, I admire most. Saying this during the day allows me to think that I offer more than the moment provides.

3. Just breathe and remember you are loved.

The worst part of depression was when I felt like I was alone. Crushed by the weight of my emotions, I had forgotten about all of the people who do love me. Sometimes I need to take a breath and remember those individuals. It helps to appreciate the things you already have.

4. Inhalar, Exhalar.

This is another one that I picked up from a tv series. I’ve been watching a lot of Jane the Virgin lately. It means “Inhale, Exhale.” As a mantra, it's a great opportunity to set my intentions. Inhaling deeply signals my intention to receive support. Exhaling signals my intention to provide support.

5. The actual test isn’t in what they do; it’s in what you do.

If your brand of love is falling off a cliff for those who love you, you should probably read a few of my articles on mental health. This mantra is something that I say when I’m setting intentions and defining boundaries. It’s a reminder that I must take accountability for myself, first and foremost.

No matter what your mantra is, set your intentions and carry that through while you’re saying them. What makes a mantra powerful is in recognizing the purpose behind it. And always remember to give yourself some grace.
